PM-AJAY SCHEME

The Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana (PM-AJAY) is a comprehensive scheme aimed at uplifting Scheduled Caste (SC) communities in India.

Launch and Components:

Launched in the fiscal year 2021-22.

 It amalgamates three Centrally Sponsored Schemes:

1.Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY)

2.Special Central Assistance to Scheduled Castes Sub Plan (SCA to SCSP)

3.Babu Jagjivan Ram Chhatrawas Yojana (BJRCY).

 Objectives:

Reduce poverty in SC communities by generating additional employment opportunities through skill development and income-generating schemes.

Improve socio-economic developmental indicators by ensuring adequate infrastructure and services in SC-dominated villages.

Key Components:

Development of SC-Dominated Villages into “Adarsh Gram”:

Ensures integrated development of SC-majority villages.

Provides adequate infrastructure for socio-economic development needs.

Achievements:

As of FY 2023-24, a total of 1834 villages have been declared as Adarsh Gram.
